Well said, Dallas. That you have to say it is depressing. I keep thinking of the Nazis (the ultimate Bad Guys) and their fruitless and cruel attempts to suppress freedom of thought and their campaign to aggrandize the Aryan race (“We’re not only exceptional, we are the Pure Race!”). That didn’t work out so well for them, did it? The fanatical right keeps preaching the same old sermon: Local Control trumps everything else. What happened? Now Oklahoma has made it ILLEGAL to teach AP US History. What if an AP US History teacher decides that he/she will teach the class the way he/she has always taught it (because kids learned). Will the principal of the school have to recruit spies in the the History Dept who will report the CRIME? If the teacher is tried and found guilty, will he/she go to PRISON? Be a FELON? Is that what we want?
