The people of Oklahoma are faced with a potential change to our constitution. State Question 790 effectively removes religion from our constitution. This astonishing amendment deserves a decided NO from all Oklahomans. Our founding fathers absolutely confirmed in our Constitution the necessity the we clearly segregate politics from religion. Evidence is powerfully demonstrated if you just look at regimes in Saudi Arabia, Iran, to see what the worst amalgamation of religion and politics can bring.
It is unfortunate that the news organizations are practically mute on this amendment, and it is time to call out the extreme errors of adoption of this amendment.
Approval of the amendment allows introduction of religious symbols into public areas, ensures support by tax payers of Oklahoma towards private religious schools, and forces all challenges to religious based initiatives to be taken to Federal courts incurrining high costs.
For the sake of our public education system this amendment must be defeated.
