Three Short Stories – Objective Summaries

One of the standards I was expected to teach as an ELA person was “objective summaries” – basically the ability to create a synopsis of any given text without adding opinion or interpretation. I didn’t love the idea of reading short stories with zero personal reaction involved, so I added a few questions about their own thoughts or interpretations.

These three assignments took a week of virtual instruction. My rule was that they couldn’t submit #2 until they’d received my comments on their efforts for #1, or submit #3 until I’d commented on #2. You get the idea.
